OET Preparation in London

Our courses take place in Wimbledon, London and are designed to prepare students for the Occupational English Test (OET). OET is an exam that assesses the language skills of healthcare professionals that would like to register and practise in an English speaking environment. OET is trusted by regulators, hospitals and universities in the following countries: UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Singapore, Namibia.

WSE is one of very few language centres in London and the UK to offer an accredited OET course. The course is suitable for doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who need to pass the Occupational English Test in to practise in the UK.

OET Preparation Intensive

During the course you will study a wide range of medical language, with a specific focus on ways of communicating effectively with patients and their relatives. You will improve your reading, writing and listening skills whilst learning vocabulary and increasing your accuracy in your use of grammar. You will be given strategies on how to approach the different parts of the test, and you will complete a full practice test, after which you will receive detailed feedback and further practice to ensure the best possible result in the exam.

Students will have the opportunity to sit for the exam at the end of these courses. These courses follow our intensive timetable of 28 lessons per week/23 hours 20 minutes per week.

The London Exam Centre, part of WSE, is an accredited examination centre for OET, so you can follow the course and take the examination with the same institution.

Online OET

Do you want to reach the best possible result in your OET examination? This online course is ideal for you if you do not have the time to commit to a course of classroom lessons, or if you do not live near the school. Over four weeks you will have a total of eight 50-minute face to face online lessons, and a minimum of 100 mins each week of guidance for self-study, all in the comfort of your own home no matter where you are in the world. You will focus on the unique demands of each part of the OET exam, and you will receive individualised feedback and error correction in order to ensure that you achieve the best possible result in your test.

Face-to face lessons are held on Tuesday evenings from 18:30 - 20:10, with the final lesson on the Tuesday before the OET examination.

You will:

Study English in a variety of Medical contexts
Analyse real case scenarios
Learn effective communication skills
Increase your knowledge of specialised terminology
Learn how to cope with difficult situations
Receive full guidance on how to do the OET
Receive detailed feedback on all aspects of your studies
Sit the exam at our centre (if required)

Medical English & OET Intensive

If you are a healthcare professional or university student and you want to improve your Medical English language skills, this is the course for you. This course follows our intensive timetable of 28 lessons per week/23 hours 20 minutes per week.

For those working in a medical field, it is important to be highly accurate and clear in their communication but they also need to be able to show tact and sensitivity. During the course you will develop these English language skills in a variety of contexts. This will help you increase your confidence when communicating with patients and their families as well as with colleagues.
