We are pleased to announce that we have begun recruitment for positions at our Juniors Summer Centre at Lord Wandsworth in Hampshire. The summer course will run from 5 July to 8August.
We are looking to recruit for the following positions:
Director of Studies
Teachers of English
House Parents
Social Activities Leaders
These are residential positions at the Centre and full board and lodgings are provided to staff. Please see the photographs on our website for what the accommodation and facilities look like. We also have some non-residential Social Activities Leaders positions for those who live locally.
Director of Studies
We are looking for an experienced Director of Studies to be part of our Summer Centre Management Team and to lead our team of teachers. We have up to 180 students (aged 10 to 17) per week with an excellent mixture of nationalities.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are hard-working, dynamic, organised and ambitious with a genuine passion for academic excellence and CPD.
You will be responsible for all areas of academic provision at the Summer Centre, which include managing the teaching team, teacher development and appraisal, supporting less experienced teachers in lesson planning, formal observation of all teachers, course development, pastoral and academic needs of students, maintaining the smooth running of the academic side of the summer programme, including the academic excursions, and maintaining the centre's teaching resources.
Applicants must have a degree and either a DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL, along with a proven experience as a DoS.
Teachers of English
We are looking for highly motivated, professional and innovative Cambridge or Trinity certificate qualified teachers who have experience in teaching all levels from pre-intermediate to advanced and a strong desire to work with children between the ages of 10 and 17. English teachers also contribute to other aspects of the summer centre course, such as social activities and excursions. Positions are available for between 1 and 5 weeks.
Applicants must have a degree and either a CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL.
House Parents
House Parents are responsible for the smooth running of the accommodation houses and take an active role in student welfare, discipline and safeguarding, including health & safety. They ensure students are prepared for their classes and the activities programme, lead welcome activities for new students, daily house meetings and the distribution of pocket money. House Parents will also contribute to afternoon and evening activities on certain days of the week.
Applicants must have experience in a similar sort of role, or have good knowledge of the role based on previous experience in a residential setting, and have excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
Social Activities Leaders
Social Activities Leaders take an active role in leading our students in sports and non-sports activities, lead groups on excursions and assist in airport transfers. We require a team with a collective broad range of skills, so if you have qualifications and/or experience in any one or more of the following, then we would particularly like to hear from you:
Sports coaching / PE teacher training
Lifeguarding (3 metre-deep swimming pool)
Arts and crafts
Drama
Working with children between the ages of 10 and 17
International students
Residential Activities Leaders will be timetabled on to additional duties to help look after the students. There is an option to take a non-residential post with lighter duties, but you will need to be based within reasonable commuting distance.
If you are interested in one or more of these positions, we will provide you with an application form, a job description and a brochure. Please indicate which role you would like to apply for by emailing Adam Mathews: adam@wimbledon-school.ac.uk
WSE is committed to safeguarding the well-being of its students and staff and to safer recruitment procedures. All gaps in your work history will need to be explained and all successful candidates will undergo an enhanced DBS check or overseas criminal or police check before appointment. All candidates will be asked to supply the contact details of two referees who we will contact directly.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN ONLY CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FROM CANDIDATES WHO ALREADY HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK. WE ARE UNABLE TO SPONSOR WORK VISAS FOR THESE ROLES.
